This release unlocks and Jailbreaks all Gen I iPhone's for the new 2.0 firmware. For those of you with new 3G's, it will Jailbreak but not unlock it. Unfortunately this version is only for OS X, we're all still waiting on the windows version..
For those of you who wouldn't consider yourself an expert and want to know what all of this hype is about, read on..
Well it couldn't have been much bigger for Apple last week. The release of iTunes 7.7, MobileMe, Firmware 2.0 and ofcourse, worldwide, the iPhone 3G. Apple made a statement this morning saying they had already sold 1 million 3G iPhones, and had more than 10 million downloads from Appstore.
At the same time, an interesting new site from the iPhone Dev team has popped up: iHazSupper.com
Which looks like a take off of the famous religious painting of the Last Supper, even more intruiging is the countdown at the bottom of the page, the majority of followers beleiving this is to the much anticipated release of the 2.0 Jailbreak, or just making fun of the yiphone site (Geo Hotz). Gotta love how the Dev team keeps us guessing.
The 2.0 Jailbreak is already amongst some, in the beta form obviously, see a video here . But for the majority, this will mean iPhone 3G owners will be able to install unsigned apps, for free, through the use of installer (or Cydia), once the much Pwnage 2.0 comes out.

The iPhone finally went on sale this morning, after years of anticipation, consumers were lining up for hours to get their eager hands on one. The wait is now over, for some.
To those of you who haven't got one yet, your chances are pretty slim for the moment, get down to your nearest store and see if there's any left, or, try vodafone's website , they're selling them online!
The Apple store in Sydney started to produce a line yesterday afternoon, even though they had never announced they would be reselling the phone, but guess what, come thismorning they announced they were.
Appstore and Mobile me are now in full swing.
To all of you already with Gen I iPhones, Firmware 2.0 is already unlocked and jailbroken! see the article here.
At the moment the Black iPhone is much more popular than the white, standing at 80:20.
iFixit have a cool article on Dissecting the iPhone 3G, they promised they'd be the first to pull it apart, see it here.
More to come shortly...

iPhone 3G Launch Tomorrow!
Written by Fibre
Thursday, 10 July 2008
The wait is over, it is the eve of the official iPhone 3G release in Australia.
Tomorrow stores accross the country will be flooding with those eager to get their hands on one.
Unfortunately not everyone's going to go home with a smile on their face.
For those who put their $100 deposit down i think your pretty safe, but make sure you get there before midday.
For the rest of you, it's simply first in best dressed. I would suggest ringing around your local stores and finding out which one opens first, Optus, Vodafone and Telstra, all opening at different times, depending on the individual store (most at 6am) and get there early because there will be que's
Optus have a handy tool on their site, where you can punch in your postcode here.
For detailed Telstra plans which are apparantly leaked, read on.
Yesterday's leaked vodafone prices are now confirmed as accurate, and we can all see Optus' plans here.
This morning on Vodafones Website, the prices showed up temporarily for about 5 minutes. Luckily some people got a screengrab before Vodafone took them back down again. Whether these will be the true prices on Friday, no-one knows for sure, there was obviously a reason for the prices being ripped back off the site, Or was the whole thing intentional?
The prices don't seem as good as what Optus has put on offer. They start from $189/$309 upfront on a $69 cap. Obviously the big business plan is offering the phone upfront for free but you'll have to pay $169 per month.
Vodafones New Zealand Website has released pricing info on its website here.
Basically there are three plans to choose from, iPhone 250, iPhone 500 or iPhone 1000; each number representing the amount of data included for download.
All plans still have an upfront cost for the phone, the least is obviously on the iPhone 1000 plan which is $250 (AUD$198) per month, and will cost you $199 (AUD$158) for the 8gb and $249 (AUD$197) for the 16gb.
Alternatively the iPhone can be purchased outright, at $979 (AUD$775) for the 8gb and $1129 (AUD$894) for the 16gb.
Also on the page is cancellation and resignation fee's.
I think its safe to say these will closely resemble Australia's prices.
New Zealand will actually be the first country in the world to get the iPhone 3G, a couple of hours before the US, due to the time zone the country resides in.

Midnight Release Party Confirmed
Written by Fibre
Tuesday, 08 July 2008
Sydney's central Optus store plans to throw a party as the clock strikes midnight on Friday.
Faustina "Fuzzy" Agolley - TV's gadget girl will host the event, where drinks and nibbles will be provided.
Door prizes and great entertainment has been promised to go along with the standard midnight countdown.
So who will get an iPhone? At this stage it looks like only those smart cookies who paid the Optus deposit (that hasn't been refunded) will get their hands on one. Everyone else will have to wait until normal business hours later that morning.
For those who don't know - Sydney's Optus store is on the corner of George and Hunter St, the party kicks off at 10pm Thursday night.
For those of you who dont know, vWallpaper is a great looking application made by the good people over at i.danstaface.net. The application lets you have video's as your springboard wallpaper. (kind of like a moving background). You must have vWallpaper installed, and therefore at the moment; have a jailbroken iPhone, all you have to do is add i.danstaface.net to your sources.
at the moment we've only got 6 packs up, if we're missing some of your favourites, then send them in!

Strathfield to sell iPhone?
Written by Fibre
Monday, 07 July 2008
Here is a snippet from this months Strathfield Catalogue, a very familiar looking shaded out image appears in the mobile phone section of the catalogue.
Seems quite obvious but what reason would they have for not revealing it?
Strathfield is currently an Optus Premium Reseller. On the 3rd of July Optus announced its pricing details for pre-paid and post-paid customers, they can be seen here .
Going to strathfield.com.au initially reveals nothing more, until you type iPhone in the site search box; it results in an iPhone Countdown, which looks like getting to 0 on July 11th, our release day.
So far we know that three mobile carriers will be providing the iPhone, these being - Optus, Vodafone and Telstra.
Telstra
and Optus have released pricing info, still waiting on Vodafone, which
should come to light this week, or may even on release day - 11th July.
Telstra
have announced on a $30 plan, the 8gb is available for $279 and the
16gb for $399. To get the 8gb with no upfront costs you'll need to sign
up for an $80 per month plan, or a $100 plan for a 16gb.
Optus
announced the iPhone will be available for pre-paid and on a contract,
the 8gb for $729 and the 16gb at $849. There's alot of info on the
iPhone with a plan, see the full doco here .
We are assuming Vodafone will also provide the iPhone for its pre-paid customers. Still no word from Virgin or 3.
Today Telstra released this statement on the iPhone release and its prices.
Telstra is the only carrier of the three in Australia (Vodafone and Optus) to release its pricing so far.
iPhone enthusiasts of Australia we're left wondering whether telstra was going provide the iPhone 3g, after Vodafones and Optus' statements earlier this year.
Deals start from $279 on a $30 per month contract for an 8gb model or 399 for a 16gb. Alternatively, they can receive the 8gb model for free on an $80 plan.
1. Will the phone be unlocked? or locked to vodafone and/or optus?
2. Is there a front camera?
3. Is the back camera improved or does it now support Video?
This morning, Australian news website News.com.au reported on some facts about the iPhone's release down under, and the hype surrounding it:
the article refers to that photo below which an anonymous apple retailer sent to Mactalk.com.au, News.com.au also revealing that a similar photo was sent from an apple retailer in London.
Also mentioned in the article:
Will it be a 3g model?
Will it include GPS?
Possible prices and carriers
Better camera quality and maybe a second camera for video calls.
Tomorrow morning is the much anticipated WWDC where Apple CEO Steve Jobs will be announcing a new and exciting product, hmmm. Stay tuned.

iPhone landed?
Written by Fibre
Saturday, 07 June 2008
You decide..
Mactalk.com.au are reporting to have recieved this photo from a reliable source here in Australia.
The
photo is of a box, with the apple logo, stating not to be opened until
the 10th of June. Could this be it?
It would co-oncide well with a June
release as previously discussed, but why the 10th? Maybe on display for
a few weeks?
Remembering the WWDC and the new Sydney store opening are all on in the next fortnight.

13 Apps worth jailbreaking for
Written by Fibre
Wednesday, 04 June 2008
I thought id quickly get this in before the appstore goes live.
Over at ITwire, Life hacker has done a pretty cool review of 13 apps worth jailbreaking your iphone or touch for. Some worth mentioning are iFlix, Islsk and Orblive. Worth a read.
But it was announced today that the Telco would carry the iPhone in Australia later this year. After speculation for more than a year, it is now official that vodafone will have strong ties with apple.
Russell Hewitt, chief executive officer for Vodafone Australia, released a
statement shortly after the announcement.
“Vodafone Australia is enormously pleased to be included in the agreement to
sell the iPhone to our customers later this year," he said.
“The iPhone will be the perfect addition to Vodafone Australia’s mobile
handset range. The iPhone’s Australian launch is well-timed to coincide with our
plans to deliver an enhanced mobile internet and entertainment experience to
customers."
Don't be worried though, this doesn't mean Vodafone will be the only carrier, only that they will be one.
Read more from news.com.au here , or read the statement from Vodafone here .
Engadget have posted a picture and information they have sourced on a second
generation iPhone.
Sourced from engadget.com:
A trusted source got a chance to check one out, here's what we've heard.
The first thing people will notice: the 2nd gen iPhone will be about the
same size and shape as the first gen.
It will, of course, have 3G. And proper GPS!
The most noticeable physical difference is back of the phone is no longer
metal -- the whole thing is glossy black, from top to bottom. The volume buttons
are now chrome.
Because it's got a little less metal to deal with, it doesn't have quite as
many angular edges. The battery is (still) not removable.
The phone itself will be slightly thicker than the first gen device.
The headphone jack will no longer be recessed, and will finally be flush
with the body.
The device itself uses roughly the same size and resolution screen as the
first generation product.
No solid word on battery life or storage capacity.
It could ship
(or be introduced) as early as July -- but it's worth noting that none of this
is necessarily finalized, and any of it could change between now and its
introduction. You really never know with Apple!
P.S. -Image via iPod Observer, MacRumors
points out it's probably
just a case (which we'd likely
agree with); we're not by any means claiming the image above is the new
iPhone, just an example of what it could look like given the info we received.

Featured App: vWallpaper
Written by Fibre
Sunday, 27 April 2008
Could this be how they make the famous iWash? vWallpaper is an application which will display video wallpaper. Its only in its early stages at the moment so you can only choose between a flame and water. The files seem to be in a .mov format, not sure of whether or not we can add more somewhere. I could have a guess that this will definately chop through your battery life, but it looks cool! To get it, add i.danstaface.net to your sources.

Windows Pwnage beta released
Written by Fibre
Thursday, 17 April 2008
Finally, a version windows users can work with. Pwnage, the newly created, popular tool for jailbreaking and unlocking iPhones, aswell as loading custom firmware has been very popular since its OSX version release.
Winpwn comes with a few limitations and several warnings in
this first beta release. The first and most clear warning is:
WARNING THIS IS ONLY FOR BETA TESTERS AND COULD CAUSE YOU TO RESTORE YOUR
IPHONE/ITOUCH LOSING DATA
We're hoping in the next few days, a version 1 will be released with the limitations fixed.
Well its so close to being official i thought i'd put it in the title. Its the news we've all been waiting for.
Very strong sources are saying that the iPhone will be released in Australia on the 29th of June.
This comes after years of anticipation and speculation over its entry into Australia after its hugely successful launch in the US.
Apple resellers are saying that only early this week they have been in meetings surrounding confidential information regarding its roll out and conditions. One word that clearly stood out was UNLOCKED.
With the iPhone not being locked to one particular network, this would make sense that it will be a 3G model released (As Telstra is the only network providing EDGE data transfer).
After learning that stats in the US are creaping up to nearly half of the phones unnaccounted for (unlocked), Apple may have reconsidered this in Australia.
It still hasn't come from Steve Jobs mouth, but from what I have learned today, i can say this is as close as we've seen so far... Exciting.
Its official, you can laugh off the april fools joke below because pwnage has been released and is already in full action.
The Dev team put the link up for download this morning.. You can get it here .
Pwnage is different from many other jailbreak tools such as Ziphone and iLiberty because it lets users install modified firmware versions (unsigned). For the moment there's only an OS X version, Windows is on its way.. Props to the iPhone Dev Team.

Dev Team has been bought out - immediate withdrawl from the iPhone community
Written by iPhoneKing
Tuesday, 01 April 2008
iPhone DevTeam PRESS RELEASE
The "DevTeam" would like to announce the immediate withdrawal from the iPhone development arena.
It was anticipated that the DevTeam would be releasing a tool for the
iPhone sometime this week, unfortunately it has been decided to
withdraw all development activities on this tool.
Criticism of the validity of the tool has been reported in the press
and certain actions were taken to prevent the release of the tool on
the 30th March.
Due to these actions, certain developers ceased their work immediately, with others reconsidering their position.
On Monday the 31st of March the DevTeam was approached by an unnamed
party to sell all of thei intellectual property and related
applications.
After much consideration the offer was accepted and work has ceased.
The name of the company that has made this offer is private, and the details of the deal are confidential.
Our only comment is that Pwnage Tool and other such applications will not be seen outside of the lab.
We would like to thank our users for their support over the last 10 months.
Reports are going around that the highly anticipated 2.0 firmware could be available a bit sooner than we expected.
A group of developers have discovered a way to bypass apple's signature they use when creating apps for the new firmware which lets them modify it.. With this in place, we could see an unlocked/jailbroken version leaked to the public.
So far we know these things about the version.... just to name a few..
It is dubbed version 2.0 by Apple, but currently 1.2
Has an App store where developers can sell apps, apple taking a 30% cut
App store requires wifi
Exchange support with push email, contacts and calendar
WPA 2 wireless support
Cisco VPN support
Remote Deactivation and or wiping
Full screen safari
Bonjour - Like bluetooth for connecting to other phones

TUESDAY, FEB 5, (News Locale) - In a move designed to give consumers more space on their favorite devices, Apple Inc on Tuesday unveiled new iPod touch handheld computer and iPhone models that will have extra memory.
